Grey and Grown – my Lizard story

I’ll tell you a little story….

Two years ago, I walked into the front bathroom that was not being used. I saw a small lizard in the porcelain sink. It couldn’t come out. The surface was slippery.

I didn’t feel like killing it because it was small. So I threw a piece of paper in hoping it would climb out.

Next day I went there, and it was still there. I lifted the paper, slid it under the lizard, took it out of the sink and let it go.

2-3 days later, I was in the middle bathroom, cleaning the litter boxes, and I heard a lizard clicking. I looked up and saw that lizard there. I surmised it was thanking me.

Few weeks later I saw it in my kitchen. I watched it grow, hiding behind the water filter or refrigerator and making a meal of cockroaches.

I just let it be. Watched it grow. My cat, Ivy, became fixated with it, chasing it across the ceiling.

A couple of days ago, I saw it after a long time. Its grown bigger and is grey. Creepy but I don’t feel like killing it.

It grew up in my home and is now old and grey.

I checked its lifespan. 5 years. Maybe less in captivity. It may die in a few months.

That’s the story of my house lizard.

Please dont think my house is crawling with bugs. Not really.

Only some in my kitchen – this lizard and a few roaches. None anywhere else in the house.

I have to be careful with pest control as I have pets living in the house.

I live in a tropical country – what can I say
